For the month of July, Air coffee at Castle Hill will be giving free coffee to these amazing volunteers: “we want to say thanks to all the awesome Salvation Army & Red Cross volunteers out there who give so much and expect nothing in return.” So if you live in Castle Hill area, pop down to Air Coffee and let them know that National Others Week sent you along.
We at NOW are appreciative to people in our community that serve others and we love to hear your stories. Naomi Shooter is currently working with a great team at the Havenproject. If people are interested in donating to any of the many projects with Haven, Naomi has started a fundraising project for families living on the rubbish dump at a border town in Thialand. Theres a link on the haven website for it too. There are 400 people living there with no sanitation or running water so the team has lots to do! If you would like to show your support Naomi, check out http://www.thehavenproject.net. #Kindnesshero! #Opportunitytobekind
Was talking to our Chief Photographer at NOW this morning and he shared about a series of events that started with an opportunity to be kind to an unknown customer of a friend, by offering to cut the legs off a chair for a project. He continued to reveal the sequence of events that led to him selling an artwork that he was working on…
In reflection of this story, how often do I hear of someone being kind, who then in return, through a sequence of events that person becomes the person who is actually blessed beyond what they could possibly thought of for themselves. Now Im not saying “go and be kind so you will get back in return” not at all, but I am sure that I am not the only one who sees the bigger picture.
What a joy to be caught up in a sequence of events that involves kindness to others. How can you start the ripple effect today?
Photo was clipped from an advertisement from Toowoomba on Facebook.. I have included the add in the post if you would like to check out their artwork. I love the opportunity to promote recycled goods. Congrats ‘Toowoomba: Lets keep it local.’
Lets not restrict kindness to our local area though.actually, let’s shout about kindness across the world!!!!!!
There is kindness happening all around us. I was speaking to a great guy today from our NOW team, Patrick, and we were chatting about how kindness doesn’t have to cost anything… perhaps a little bit of energy.
A smile, a hug, an encouraging word or action, yet the energy spent can cause a ripple effect in the world around us. You don’t know how much your smile will mean to the person you are walking past. Have a go. Practice being kind today.
